Deadline Time: 19:30

Abstract: The project is to develop an approach to workforce data modelling, and related tool development, for UK physiotherapy. The key purpose of this contract is to deliver:
- A mapping of the UK physiotherapy workforce (including by individual country, and with a particular focus in England to inform HEE’s national workforce planning and 15-year strategic framework implementation) against current and projected population/patient and service needs, quality and affordability requirements, and projections of the physiotherapy workforce’s demographic profile
- The progression of the above in ways that specifically address and measure the impact of an increasing plurality of service providers within health, social care and public health on workforce demand (factoring in issues to do with maintaining quality employment and service delivery models across an increasing diversity of sectors and settings and taking account of commissioning and planning decisions)
- An approach that is underpinned by considering how physiotherapy education needs to develop at all levels (pre-, post-registration and support worker levels) to ensure the relevance and value of physiotherapy knowledge, skills and practice for meeting changing population/patient and service needs
- An online workforce data model with supportive tools and guidance, informed by each of the above
- A testing of the model, tools and guidance within particular geographical regions (including, in England, through links with local education & training boards [LETBs]) and in relation to specific (high-priority) patient pathways
- The production of exemplars of the use and impact of the project’s deliverables, including through the production of case studies to inform follow-on activity.
In delivering this project, the CSP is collaborating with Health Education England and the Council of Deans of Health (CoD) as project partners.
